Lampoff
Chrome extension · by Zelenye Solutions

One click. Lights off.

Lampoff turns the website you're on dark, even if the site has no dark theme of its own. It remembers your choice for that site and leaves every other site alone.

Coming soon to the Chrome Web Store How it works

Free. No account. No tracking. Works entirely in your browser.

Dark where you want it

One click, per site

Click the bulb on the toolbar and the current site goes dark right away, without a reload. Click again to switch it back.

Remembered

A site you turned dark stays dark after a reload and on your next visit, and loads dark from the first frame, with no white flash.

Off everywhere else

Sites you haven't turned on look exactly as they always did. Nothing changes until you ask.

Not an invert filter

Lampoff rebuilds the site's own colors for a dark background: text stays readable, photos stay untouched, brand colors keep their hue.

Keeps up with the page

Endless feeds, pop-ups and cookie banners turn dark as they appear.

Private by design

Pages are recolored inside your browser. No account, no analytics, no ads, nothing collected.

Easy on the eyes, nothing lost

An encyclopedia-style article in dark mode: readable text and links, the picture unchanged

The bulb on the toolbar tells you the state of the site you're on:

White: this site is untouched
Black: dark mode is on here

How to use

  1. Add Lampoff to Chrome and pin the bulb to the toolbar.
  2. Open a site you'd like dark.
  3. Click the bulb, or press Alt+Shift+D. The site goes dark and stays dark.
  4. Click the bulb again to turn the site back to normal.

FAQ

Is it free?

Yes. Lampoff is free, with no account and no limits.

Why does it need access to all sites?

So you can turn dark mode on for any site you visit. It only changes a site after you turn it on there, and it never sends anything from the page anywhere.

Why is the bulb inactive on some pages?

Chrome doesn't let extensions change its own pages, such as Settings or the Web Store.

Can I change the shortcut?

Yes, in chrome://extensions/shortcuts.

A site looks wrong?

Send the address to support@zelenye.com and we'll take a look. One click on the bulb brings the site back to normal meanwhile.
